Before you get started

- We currently track the following certifications:
- BOMA 360
- ENERGY STAR CERTIFICATION
- Fitwel
- GRESB
- IREM
- LEED
- Wired
- Each certification has a notes and document upload function so you can attached all the information you collected to the certification
- Have a certification that's not listed? Let us know and we can add it!
Finding the Certifications Page
- Navigate to a building by using the top search bar or clicking the image of the building on the Backpack home page
- Click the SUBMISSIONS section in the left menu (you may have to expand the menu by clicking on the building name)
- Click CERTIFICATIONS
Adding Certifications
- Click ADD CERTIFICATIONS button - this will open a section to the right to fill out all the details for a certification
- Enter the information in each field, there are some required fields, those are noted with a asterisk (*). Here are some helpful tips on each field:
- Certification Type
- Status
- Renewal Date: Date of next renewal for certification, if unknown or this is a certification that has not renewed in a long time we recommend using the next anniversary date of the certification. For example - if the certification was awarded on 10/15/2020 a renewal date of 10/15/2025 would be a good value for this field
- Responsible Party: Select the appropriate response here for the group responsible for this certification.
- Ownership: The name of the person within the above defined group who is in charge of this certification/renewals
- Asset Manager: Select the asset manager. Note: only users defined as an "asset manager" in Admin section will appear here.
- Subtype/Version/Level - type in the appropriate entry here based on the certification. For example, for LEED you might type in "Gold" for LEED Gold Certification
- Certification ID - special ID provided by the certification entity (if applicable)
- Initial Certification Date - date certification first awarded
- ESPM Account - Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) account name or owner. This field could list the building name or the owner of the ESPM account. For Backpack buildings this field value should be "Backpack Administered"
- Connected ESPM ID - Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) Property ID for the ESPM account if utilized for the certification. This is helpful when the ESPM account information/score is tied to the certification.
- Adding notes is encouraged but not required. Notes are for your internal use - here are some suggestions for the notes section:
- your name & date the information was entered
- Additional details about management of the certification & any consultant contact information
- Upload documents gathered to support the information above - this could include confirmation emails, internal notifications, award certificates, application information, etc.
- Click SAVE
Edit Certification
- Click the name of the certification at the top right - certification name is in green, this will open the card to update the details.
- Make your edits & click SAVE
