      Guide: Viewing Energy Star Data and Submissions in Backpack

      Staying on top of Energy Star is easy with Backpack! You can connect multiple Portfolio Manager Accounts, storing historic submission data & benchmark scores in one spot

      The Submissions tab displays a variety of data related to Energy Star such as: current score, past scores, certification status and submittal date, portfolio manager data by month with details on what’s pending, what's submitted, and what's missing. 

      All the data shown in the Backpack is attached to the Backpack Administered Energy Star Account, created during onboarding.  The Backpack Administered Energy Star account is fully supported by the Backpack software and syncs seamlessly with Energy Star Portfolio Manager.

      If there are multiple portfolio manager accounts for a building, that data can also be pulled into the Backpack as a 'historical' view. Learn how to connect a Portfolio Manager Account to Backpack. 

      Backpack Administered Energy Star Account:

      An Energy Star Portfolio Manager account that is created by Backpack and automatically maintained and kept up to date by the Backpack software. Check out this article for frequently asked questions and more!

      Existing Energy Star Portfolio Manager Account: 

      An Energy Star Portfolio Manager account that was created before Backpack's involvement in the property and is owned by an entity other that Backpack. Learn how to share an existing account here.

      To view current Energy Star Data in Backpack: 

      STEP 1: 

      Select a building, and navigate to 'SUBMISSIONS' in the left-hand navigation menu. Select 'ENERGY STAR'.

      Note: 

      The current score displayed represents the projected benchmark score. Calculated using the most recent 12 months of utility and property use type data. 

      Yearly Submission Data

      STEP 1:

      Select a building, and navigate to the 'SUBMISSIONS' in the left-hand navigation menu. Select 'ENERGY STAR'.

      STEP 2:

      Navigate to the 'YEARLY DATA SUBMISSION' button. Once selected, you can toggle through property use types and toggle 'SHOW EFFECTIVE DATE' on and off.

      Note: Backpack will collect Benchmark scores for each year.
